On arrival in Pickering follow the A170 to the traffic lights signposted to the Steam Railway, Newton upon Rawcliffe and Stape. If coming from  Scarborough,York and Whitby turn right at the traffic lights. If coming from Thirsk and Helmsley turn left.

After passing the Steam Railway station you will cross the level crossing at Newbridge following the road up a  hill then across gently rolling hills for 4 miles or so before arriving in Newton upon Rawcliffe.

Follow the road through Newton, past the White Swan pub and after half a mile go past the turn off for Cropton following the sign for Stape.

After about a mile you will enter Stape. Turn left into Middle Head Road which is approximately 500 yards past the red telephone box.

A few hundred yards along Middle Head road the road forks where you should keep left. Flamborough Rigg Cottage is the 4th property on the left roughly ½ mile down the road.
